A US graduate in International Economics from the University of North Carolina, Gilbert Najjar’s forty-year career in Lebanon spans banking and finance, heavy chemical and polymerization industries, company restructuring and telecommunications. His career has also benefited from a deep dive into the public sector and academic world, where for the past fifteen years he has supervised the country’s mobile business and chaired the Owner Supervisory Board.
Mr. Najjar has occupied senior managerial positions in several Lebanese Alpha Banks as well the country’s biggest industrial complexes. In the United Arab Emirates, he has been instrumental in restructuring banking institutions. He has also been a member of the panel appointed by the governor of the Lebanese Central Bank to counsel on Lebanon’s Forex crisis. He has authored numerous publications on varied economic themes and taught at the American University of Beirut and the Lebanese University. There, he served as a member of the thesis supervision panel. His academic career extends over two decades.
